MAQRĪZĪ

(1364-1442 A.D.)

Abū-l-'Abbās Aḥmad b.'Abdalla b. 'Alī b. Muḥ. al-Ḥusaynī Taqī ad-dīn al-Maqrīzī. This Egyptian Encyclopaedist and historian began his career in government service and was successively appointed Inspector of revenues and weights in the Delta. Then after having been preacher at Cairo, he became professor at Damascus. He died in Cairo.
