Ghazali

A monastery and church situated in the valley of the Wadi Abu Dom, about 15 km south of what is there the south bank (normally the west bank) of the Nile, 1210 km upriver from Philae. One of only two definitely identifiable monasteries in the Kingdom of Makouria, it was partially excavated by the Sudan Antiquities Service in 1953 and 1954.
