Translation quoted from G. Ruffini, The Bishop, The Eparch and The King: Old Nubian Texts from Qasr Ibrim IV (P.QI 4) [= JJP Supplements], Warsaw 2014 with permission from the editors of the JJP.

Martyrophoros the choiak-eikshil to Papasa.

I pay homage to your lordship. I will [unknown verb] your foundation to me. They will hand over the property which is 1 servant. I say everything. I foretell it. He will [unknown verb] the judgment. I, taking 4, gave 16 from the tot to 9 of yours (?). And the eparch’s 12 gold coins did not increase (?) in harvest, and selling the slave girl, he deposits them. Tapara was reluctant. That which is Apaji’s place does not perish. What is yours alone remains.

May Alapa write a letter to the eparch. What is his remains. For, appearing, I say it. I deposited the unit of wine in 5 gold pieces, after he reckoned them. For the harvest-month is Mesore. May he not take me, being in servility. And send quickly one piece of gold to Treimish (?). And if they [unknown verb] me, so I have the foundation and the daughter of Mashakko. It is not an empty letter, (but one with) 30 bitter apples (?).
