Assistant Professor of History and Classical Studies at Fairfield University in Connecticut, USA. Teaching Interests: Roman and Hellenistic history, ancient social history, late antiquity, the post-Roman Mediterranean, Nile valley civilizations. Research Interests: Roman imperial history, Greco-Roman Egypt, Greco-Roman exploration in Africa, history of late antiquity, Christian Nubia, network theory. His publications on medieval Nubia include the recent study Medieval Nubia: A Social and Economic History and editions of the Meinarti Ostraka and the West Bank Ostraka.
