Thanks to Bruce Wayne Swann of the Classics Library of University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, in February 2011 Medieval Nubia obtained Gerald Browne's personal copies of a number of books related to Nubian studies. These included several copies of his own works, including Literary Texts in Old Nubian, Chrysostomus Nubianus, and Griffith's Old Nubian Lectionary. These copies include numerous marginalia in the author's own hand, which allow us to trace the author's understanding of the texts after their publication, and provide alternative interpretations not found in either the ed.princ. or in Browne Unpublished.
